However, when you get a pet, it’s important to ensure that your home is prepared for its arrival. Here are six tips to help you make your home pet-friendly:

Ensure that Your Home is Safe and Secure

It’s important to pet-proof your home as much as possible. This means blocking off any rooms or areas that are not accessible to pets, keeping dangerous items out of reach, and having proper fencing or enclosures around the outside of your house.  Also, ensure that all windows, doors, and gates are secure and that your pet can’t escape. If you own exotic or rare pets, double-check to ensure that your home is properly equipped to house them.

Provide Lots of Comfortable Spaces for Your Pet

Make sure you have plenty of comfortable places for your pet to sleep, rest and play in your home. This can include pet beds, blankets, cushions, and designated play areas. Ensure these locations are in an area free from potential risks and hazards.
